Release Date For Marvel’s Avengers Video Game May’ve Leaked

A somewhat premature conclusion to make it might be, but this year's E3 certainly appears to have all the makings of a memorable occasion. Not even counting the wealth of rumors currently circulating the internet, the games confirmed to be putting in an appearance alone is enough to shift the hype machine into full gear. That's due, in large part, to two specific titles, both of which draw their inspiration from Hollywood and beyond.

Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order represents one half, while the other is being spearheaded by Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics. The project in question is, of course, Marvel’s Avengers, which could well prove to be the star of the show, if initial gameplay details are any indication. The action adventure, which is said to include multiplayer and RPG elements such as character customization, will have its official unveiling in a matter of days, though one big reveal concerning the superpowered affair may have been prematurely outed.

As per the discovery made by Twitter user Andrew Marmo, a new page listing has been spotted on online retailer Amazon specifying the release window of an unannounced Square Enix title.

It’s important to note, of course, that the listing could be referring to another Square Enix-published IP such as PlatinumGames’ Babylon’s Fall, but something has to fill that space, and it could be Marvel’s Avengers. There’s also the possibility that the date provided is little more than a placeholder, though such timeframes are generally placed at the front or back-end of the month, not smack-bang in the middle.

Regardless, should Marvel’s Avengers be on course for launch in the first half of 2020, expect confirmation to come via next week’s gameplay reveal. Until then, be sure to check out everything we know so far of the first entry in a potential MGU over here.
