The good news just keeps flowing for Capcom. According to the NPD Group‘s monthly sales report for January 2017 (via GameSpot), Resident Evil 7 was the best-selling game of the month (in dollar sales) in the United States, an achievement made all the more admirable considering the survival horror sequel was only on sale for five days during the period (Jan 1-29).

“With only five days in the market, Resident Evil 7 was the best-selling game in January,” says NPD analyst Sam Naji (via VG247), adding that not since Resident Evil 5 has the publisher released a title that’s managed to achieve the same feat. As for the rest of the chart, all of the names you’d expect to see feature are present, including Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which comes in at no.2. The futuristic shooter seems to be enjoying continued sales success, which is interesting, considering Activision’s recent comments that it “wasn’t the success” it had hoped for.

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V rounds out the top three games of the month, surprising basically nobody, what with its frequent appearance in the UK games chart week after week.

See below for the rest of the top 10.

  1. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
  2. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  3. Grand Theft Auto V
  4. Battlefield 1
  5. NBA 2K17
  6. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
  7. Madden NFL 17
  8. Watch Dogs 2
  9. Overwatch*
  10. FIFA 17

*Battle.net sales not included

As for Resident Evil 7, it’s available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and if you’ve already finished exploring everything the Baker Mansion has to offer, know that there’s a hefty amount of DLC planned for the title over the next few months. Banned Footage Vol.1 & 2 are already available for owners of Sony’s console, although everyone else will have to wait a little longer.
