It’s been a long and bumpy development cycle for Obsidian’s licensed RPG, South Park: The Stick of Truth.  Originally announced in late 2011, the project went through some uncertain times after the bankruptcy of THQ, who was originally slated to release the game. Since then, Ubisoft has been confirmed to be taking over publishing duties, and now, the title finally has a concrete release date.

Ubisoft announced today that The Stick of Truth will make its North American debut on December 10, quickly followed by a European release date of December 12. The game will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, and like many big-name retail releases these days, will offer a pre-order bonus and several different editions to reserve. Those who pre-order will receive the Ultimate Fellowship Pack at launch, which contains four special in-game costumes with unique perks and abilities.  For $79.99, the Grand Wizard Edition will also be available, which includes a 6″ figure of Cartman in his wizard garb, as well as a map of the game’s kingdom for reference.
