Storytelling With Hitman: Absolution

Storytelling is a key part of the majority of today's video games. The technology that developers have at their fingertips is always improving, and it's at an amazing point right now where our favourite digital experiences are able to mimic their Hollywood peers. Storytelling is a key part of the majority of today’s video games. The technology that developers have at their fingertips is always improving, and it’s at an amazing point right now where our favourite digital experiences are able to mimic their Hollywood peers. Hitman: Absolution is a good example of this, as its latest developer diary shows. The team at IO Interactive went to great lengths, in order to make their cutscenes interesting, immersive and realistic.

In order to achieve the results they were striving for, the game’s team members took advantage of high-tech motion capture. By doing so, they were able to get great footage of their Hollywood stars, including Vivica A. Fox and Powers Boothe. Cameras positioned in front of the actors’ faces captured their facial movements, and the film was then utilized by the animation team. The result will surely be impressive, as that can be said of the few storytelling moments featured within this promotional video.

Hitman: Absolution launches on November 20.
