Street Fighter V’s Next DLC Character Is Kolin, Available February 28

Following on from its tease yesterday of an imminent character reveal for Street Fighter V, Capcom has lifted the lid on who's next to join the beat 'em up's roster. Kolin, a member of the shady Illuminati organization, will bring her own unique brand of pain to Street Fighter V's existing cast on February 28, when she'll be available to buy for the usual individual price or, alternatively, included as part of the game's $29.99 season 2 pass.

As confirmed last year during Sony’s PlayStation Experience, Kolin, along with the rest of season 2’s characters, has never been playable in the series prior to now, but that doesn’t mean she’s a brand new creation. If you’re able to cast your minds back as far as 1997, you’ll likely recognize her as having appeared in Street Fighter III, albeit in a minor role.

An underling of Illuminati leader Gill, Kolin has been endowed with the power to control ice by her boss, according to Capcom, and excels in the Russian martial art of Systema. Judging by her trailer (above), it looks like Kolin’s main schtick is going to be juggle combos and bypassing her opponent’s defenses with well-timed advances.

Alongside Kolin, Capcom will have three alternate costumes ready to go on February 28, one of which is based on her appearance in Street Fighter III. See below for her full repertoire of abilities.

V-Skill: Inside Slash

Kolin’s unique counter allows her to deflect and automatically punish incoming moves with ease.

V-Trigger: Diamond Dust

Kolin dashes forward with a slice of her hand. If the attack connects, she’ll continue summoning large icicles from the ground, throwing the opponent into the air and shattering the ice to drop them to the ground.

Critical Art: Frost Tower

Outside of the competitive scene, Street Fighter V‘s been struggling to attract an audience since launch ever since. Let’s hope that a fresh batch of new blood can help to remedy some its woes, even if only by a little.
