It’s been a long time coming, but today CD Projekt Red has finally confirmed that The Witcher III: Wild Hunt has gone gold, meaning that the hotly-anticipated RPG is ready to print onto discs and be sent to retailers.

In tandem with the announcement, the reputable Polish dev released a statement about how the creative team painstakingly created the gargantuan fantasy world that will likely serve as Geralt’s final monster-hunting adventure.

“We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game,” said studio head Adam Badowski in a prepared statement. “From the corrupt nobles in Novigrad to ancient monsters lurking in deep forests, to the bustling cities, colorful ports and breathtaking vistas; all the people, all the places.

“We literally spent tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has gone gold and will soon be yours.”

At the time of writing, the threequel is now little more than a month away from relinquishing any and all of your spare time. Boasting close to 200 hours worth of content, Wild Hunt is an RPG on a scale of of its own, and one that hasn’t been glimpsed on western shores since the release of Skyrim back in 2011.

Early last week, CD Projekt Red released a gameplay trailer detailing the almighty quest that awaits Geralt of Rivia, not to mention all of the side-quests and activities vying for your attention as you trawl across the dark realm of Northern Kingdoms. Ardent players will be pleased to note that two expansions are in the works for the months after release – namely Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt will make its bow across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 19. For now, tell us, are you excited about the prospect of stepping foot in CD Projekt Red’s fantasy sequel? Let us know below.
