Telltale Games, developer of last year’s hit Walking Dead series, are moving on to adapt another popular comic, Bill Willingham’s Fables. The game is called The Wolf Among Us and, judging from the new trailer, it’s going to be lovely – at least to look at.

The Wolf Among Us will apparently be in the same vein as Telltale’s Walking Dead. The visual style looks strikingly similar and a strong emphasis is already being placed on “player choice and consequence.” It’s that last bit that really made The Walking Dead special. There were countless times when none of the available choices appealed to me, but I had to choose one, and I often didn’t have much time to decide. Episode three was a punch to the gut that still has me reeling.

The Wolf Among Us will centre around Bigby Wolf, the former antagonist of The Little Red Riding Hood, who apparently has become the sheriff of Fabletown. It’s his responsibility to keep the Fables, as they call themselves, in check. A host of other characters from European, American, and Arabian folk lore are sure to make an appearance too.

The differences do, however, stretch beyond the source material. Shane Vanaman, lead writer on The Walking Dead, won’t be returning to pen The Wolf Among Us – throwing a question mark over one of the former’s greatest assets – its writing.

The first Wolf Among Us episode is called Faith. Details like plot and release date have yet to be announced, but in the meantime, you can check out the new trailer below:

Enjoy!
