At their Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo confirmed the release date for The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, which will be available across Europe and the UK on October 4th, 2013 – no word yet of an America release date. Saturo Iwata took to the stage to showcase the ten-year old classic, which has been retuned ahead of its debut on the Wii U this coming fall.

Along with the confirmation of a release date, Iwata also detailed some of the added features that have been implemented into The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. These include a refurbished version of the original Tingle Turner mode, which will now accommodate interaction to the console’s Miiverse community via an in-game ‘Tingle Bottle.’ At its core, this mode is a social feature that will allow players to communicate with one another through a message-in-a-bottle styled approach.

What’s more, the game has also been fine-tuned during its transition to high defintion in terms of its mechanics. A revamped Wind Waker wand, organised inventory via the GamePad and quicker sailing ensure that the HD remake is an overall improvement from its GameCube brethren. The reissue will also be available to purchase digitally via the company’s eShop, as Nintendo continue in their effort to boost their online gaming catalogue.

At this time, there has been no word of an American release date – although we assume it will be within the same timeframe. Nevertheless, The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD boasts stunning visuals that add a fresh sense of appeal to The Great Sea we know and love.

What do you think, though? Has Nintendo enticed you to traverse Windfall Island once more? Or would you prefer some original content for your Wii U console? Give us your thoughts below.
