Tamriel’s journey onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has been one fraught with difficulty, and yesterday proved to be no different. After persevering through a prolonged delay, Zenimax’s The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited debuted onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to overwhelmed servers, leaving many players unable to access the MMO whatsoever.

‘Login Failed’ is an error message that’s been plastered all over TESO‘s official support forums, and today the developer has offered a quick fix that ought to negate any further issues. All you have to do is switch megaserver.

Per Zenimax:

For those attempting to log into the NA megaserver

Switch to the EU megaserver
Log into the EU megaserver and accept the legal agreements as prompted
Log out of the EU megaserver and switch back to the NA megaserver
Log into the NA megaserver

For those in Europe, follow the same instructions stated above, only switching to the NA megaserver instead. High traffic appears to be responsible for the server collapse, and while the method above acts as a quick fix, this is essentially a short-term solution to a long-term problem, and we’re hoping Zenimax can permanently rectify the connection woes sooner rather than later.

Here’s what the developer had to say to frustrated fans:

We understand this is frustrating, but we encourage you to continue to try logging in until you reach a screen stating that you’ve been placed into a queue. Once you’re in the queue, please do not leave the queue, close the game client, or otherwise navigate away from this screen. We’re working to get you into Tamriel as quickly as we can. Thanks for your continued patience and support during our console launch!

We’ll keep you updated on the status of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited as this story develops.
