Ant-Man? Check. Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne in her battle gear? You betcha’. A giant Hello Kitty Pez dispenser being hurled out of a van? It can only be the first teaser trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp, which appears to be just as weird and wonderful as its cinematic predecessor.
Set soon after the events of Civil War – not unlike Marvel’s Black Panther – Peyton Reed’s pint-sized sequel is all about Ant-Man and the Wasp as they journey into the Quantum Realm in search of Janet Van Dyne, Michelle Pfeiffer’s long-lost protagonist who went sub-atomic to intercept an intercontinental ballistic missile during the height of the Cold War, never to be seen again.
But all is not lost, as Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope, now wanted fugitives, enlist the help of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), whose mind-bending technology is capable of transforming a skyscraper into a suitcase in a matter of seconds. And it doesn’t end there, as the gallery below features everything from intense car chases to the Internet’s favorite micro-animal, the tardigrade.
There’s also a cheeky new poster for the upcoming sequel, which shrinks its titular duo down to the size of an insect. Pym Particles would be so proud.
Elsewhere on the cast list is Michael Peña, Walton Goggins (Tomb Raider), Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer (Halloween), Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, and Randall Park, with Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas on board as the illustrious Hank Pym.
On July 6th, Marvel will unleash Ant-Man and the Wasp, and if we’ve learned anything today, it’s that a movie featuring a super-sized Hello Kitty Pez dispenser is a movie we don’t want to miss.
