Sitting over dinner while a news report plays in the background – a news report in which Spidey’s heroics are placed front and center – today’s all-too-brief clip is another reminder that Jon Watts’ franchise reset will place a particular focus on Peter Parker and his struggles to balance a double life of cutting class and tackling crime.

Armed with a bleeding-edge suit gifted to him by Stark Industries, Holland’s Web-Head is able to approach criminals with that signature sense of confidence. From the hyper-responsive eye-slits to sophisticated web shooters, web-wings to that cute little detachable Spider-Drone, the Spidey suit featured in Spider-Man: Homecoming is arguably the most advanced one yet, and it’ll no doubt stand Parker in good stead as he takes the fight to The Vulture (Michael Keaton) and his unruly associates. The Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine) and The Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) will be another two goons for Spidey to apprehend, but given how Keaton’s unhinged Adrian Toomes has uncovered alien tech from the aftermath of the Battle for New York, doing so won’t be easy.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is due to make a beeline for theatres on July 7th and when it does, it’ll signal the beginning of a brand new trilogy of Spidey solo movies. That means that, once Avengers: Infinity War drops on May 4th, 2018, Tom Holland’s Web-Head will return to Queens for Homecoming 2, and will do so without Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark by his side. Who will replace Iron Man for the sequel? Who knows, but let the speculation commence.
