New Avengers 4 Rumor Teases Official Title And An Unlikely Ally

With all the fanfare around the impending release of the first Avengers 4 trailer, you’d think that Marvel Studios was about to give the whole film away. But when the long-awaited footage finally drops, it’s likely that the teaser will leave us with at least as many questions as it does answers.

With all the fanfare around the impending release of the first Avengers 4 trailer, you’d think that Marvel Studios was about to give the whole film away. But when the long-awaited footage finally drops, it’s likely that the teaser will leave us with at least as many questions as it does answers.

With that in mind, we turn our attention to this new Reddit rumor from a user who claims to have connections to people in the movie business. The alleged piece of intel serves as one more source telling us that the film’s official title is indeed the long-rumored Avengers: Annihilation, but what’s more noteworthy about this post is the plot description it claims to offer, with the French user providing the following translation of what they heard:

“when facing with an even bigger threat than the Infinity War, the outnumbered Avengers have to find the most unlikely ally of all.”

We’ve been hearing rumors and theories about “an even bigger threat” for a long time now, and probably with good reason. For one thing, some promo art leaked a couple of months ago which teased this exact development in next year’s release. And with co-director Joe Russo promising last month that the stakes will be 100% higher, it certainly sounds like the Avengers: Infinity War sequel will have more than a simple Round 2 with Thanos lined up.

In fact, if the latest rumor turns out to be legit and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes really are getting help from “the most unlikely ally of all,” surely the most obvious guess for this mystery teammate would be the Mad Titan himself. Granted, this particular report could well be one of the many fakes making the rounds, but that would certainly be an interesting way of keeping Thanos’ story going while still following through on the promises of higher stakes.

We’re almost certainly getting ahead of ourselves here, especially given the dubious source for these claims, but all will be revealed when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
