Baby Driver Featurette Puts The Mozart In The Go-Kart

Equipped with his own custom playlist, Ansel Elgort's young Mozart steps into the go-kart in this all-new featurette for Baby Driver.

Going in to the release of a new Edgar Wright movie, there are certain elements one can expect from the fan-favorite British filmmaker: unconventional and often razor-sharp editing, for one, along with a cracking cast and rip-roaring soundtrack. The latest example of said trend? Baby Driver, Wright’s long-brewing passion project that’s due to screech onto the silver screen late next month.

Behind the wheel – both literally and figuratively – for this one is Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), who plays the titular getaway driver. Ever since he was involved in a tragic car accident at a young age, Elgort’s lead has been nursing a nasty case of tinnitus, but when he’s equipped with his trusty iPod and its selection of fast-paced and often blistering tracks, Baby becomes one of the best drivers in the city. Roped in to the ol’ “one last job” shtick by Kevin Spacey’s glowering kingpin, Baby Driver soon finds that he’s in over his head once the bullets start flying, and when his significant other (Lily James) is placed under threat, Elgort’s protagonist is left with little choice but to fulfill Spacey’s last wish.

You’ll be able to delve deeper into that backstory via the new Baby Driver featurette up above, which also spotlights some of the film’s wacky supporting players – brought to life by Jon Hamm, Eiza González, Jamie Foxx and Jon Bernthal, who is on the verge of perfecting the role of the wide-eyed, unhinged co-star after his performances across The Walking Dead, The Wolf of Wall Street and Marvel’s Daredevil.

“You name’s Baby? B-A-B-Y Baby?” Edgar Wright will introduce the world to Baby Driver on June 28th. Curious to know more about the director’s latest? Look no further than our official review from SXSW 2017.
