After the staggering box office success of Avengers: Infinity War, much of the filmgoing public isn’t going to need a lot of convincing to give next year’s Avengers 4 a chance. But as the biggest entry in the MCU thus far, you can also understand why Marvel Studios would want to take the opportunity to try something special with the promotion.

Charles Murphy from That Hashtag Show has suggested as such with a recent tweet, which offers no clarification or confirmation of what to expect in the lead-up to the film’s release, but does hint that Disney could be about to get everyone talking yet again:

“We’ll have to wait and see if what I heard a few weeks back turns out to be true, but if it is Marvel Studios will be marketing Avengers 4 in a very different way than they ever have done for any of their films. If it is true, it’s going to stir up a LOT of conversation.”

Much like the studio he’s discussing, Murphy is keeping his teasing vague and mysterious for the time being, leaving us to wonder what unconventional marketing might or might not be heading our way. For now, let’s just hope that this strategy doesn’t prove too disruptive. As their continuing refusal to reveal the film’s title attests, Marvel Studios arguably has a habit of taking their spoiler-proofing a little too far, but at least producer Kevin Feige has offered his official assurance that the first trailer will be coming our way before the end of the year.

Speaking of which, it’s the overwhelming consensus of the internet right now that this teaser will be dropping in the next couple of weeks, with a Q&A screening of Infinity War hosted by directors Anthony and Joe Russo on Wednesday the 28th causing some fans to zero in on this particular date. Either way, assuming Disney’s bold marketing strategy doesn’t involve changing their release date again, you can expect to see Avengers 4 in theaters from May 3rd, 2019.
