The tenth Nicholas Sparks adaptation, The Longest Ride, is on its way to a cinema screen near you, and now there’s a trailer to appease your appetite for love. This latest bout of romantic tearjerkery revolves – as you might expect – around a lovelorn couple who must fight to stay together.
Directed by George Tillman Jr., the film focuses on the relationship between college student Sophia and champion bull rider Luke, who both become inspired to make their long-distance romance flourish after meeting old chap, Ira. So far, so Sparks. If you’re already gasping to see it, well, there’s a few months still to go, but you can check out the trailer above for a glimpse at the star-crossed pair.
There’s definite shades of his earlier cinematic smash, The Notebook, as the story hops back and forth between our modern couple and Ira’s romantic past. However, the talent on offer here might outshine the obvious trappings of the genre. Under The Dome‘s Britt Robertson is on form as Sophia, and son of Clint, Scott Eastwood has all the makings of a bona fide hearthrob. If you’re into this unique brand of cheese, they make the perfect Sparksian pair.
Along with the trailer, you can check out the new poster for The Longest Ride below, before it opens in theaters on April 10th, 2015.
Based on the bestselling novel by master storyteller Nicholas Sparks, THE LONGEST RIDE centers on the star-crossed love affair between Luke, a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia, a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world.
