2016 is a big year for superhero movies, and while Suicide Squad is taking a unique approach by putting the spotlight on a group of bad guys, the riskiest upcoming release is the R-Rated Deadpool. While Fox initially wanted the movie to have a PG-13 rating, Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller pushed for the R, something which led to a significantly lower budget as a result. However, they’ve clearly spent their money well if the new TV spot above is any indication.
As well as some fantastic shots of Deadpool in action, we see former MMA fighter Gina Carano knocking seven bells out of X-Men member Colossus. His inclusion is a genuinely pleasant surprise, but with Fox seemingly embracing the concept of a shared universe, chances are we’ll see even more mutants from that famous team show up if Deadpool manages to get a sequel.
Box office tracking certain points to it being a hit anyways, and with rumours pointing to the studio eyeing Deadpool 2 for the release slot held by the Fantastic Four sequel, things are looking very good indeed for the Merc with the Mouth.
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool is set to be released on February 12th, 2016.
