Dave Bautista Relishing The Thought Of Drax/Tony Stark Dynamic In Avengers: Infinity War

Per Screen Rant, Dave Bautista is relishing the thought of Drax and Tony Stark sharing the screen in Avengers: Infinity War.

When Kevin Feige was asked to define the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the executive cited humor as one of the studio’s crowning achievements. That levity takes many forms, of course, be it the fish-out-of-water dynamic seen in the original Thor movie or the at times blistering sense of chemistry between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Joss Whedon’s Avengers movie.

That spilled over into both Age of Ultron and the show-stopping Captain America: Civil War, and it’s small wonder why Marvelites are looking to Avengers: Infinity War with bated breath. That excitement can be felt on both sides, too, after Dave Bautista touched on Joe and Anthony Russo’s star-studded ensemble movie while chatting to Screen Rant.

And so, after discussing the finer details of Drax and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the interview went beyond James Gunn’s imminent sequel to focus on Infinity War and, specifically, the character interactions that Dave Bautista is most looking forward to. Spoilers: it’s Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, with Bautista pointing to the juxtaposition between Stark’s unflinching sarcasm and Drax’s tendency to take things literally. Well, Zoe Saldana did say that the Guardians of the Galaxy would help bring some levity to the battle against Thanos.

Per Screen Rant:

Oh, I’ve said for years, and years, and years. It’s Robert Downey Jr./Tony Stark, man. I think there’s so much humor to be had there with Drax and Tony Stark. With him being such a sarcastic bastard and Drax taking everything so literally. I think there’s tons of humor to be had there. I’m also a huge fan of Robert’s.

Once Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 bows in theaters on May 5th, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther each have their moment of fame, Phase 3 will culminate with the launch of Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, 2018.
