Very little is know about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as of right now, other than the fact Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards is directing from a script by Gary Whitta, Chris Weitz, and possibly Christopher McQuarrie, if reports of him offering a few touch ups are accurate. The cast, meanwhile, is made up of names like Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Forest Whitaker and Riz Ahmed.

While past rumours have pointed to the story following a team of Rebels who set out to steal the plans of the first Death Star, we may now know who Jones is going to be playing in Rogue One.

Unfortunately, it’s not a familiar name, though that may not be a bad thing for those of you hoping the spinoff won’t force too many connections with better known characters. With stuntwoman Gabriele Fritz (who happens to be the spitting image of the British actress) named as “Lyra Erso” on various casting sites, it’s now believed – but not confirmed – that that is who Jones is playing.

Meanwhile, it’s also being reported that various other minor Rogue One roles have been cast, with Bern Collaco playing a stormtrooper, Angus Cook as a mechanic, and Nabilah Karim set to take on the part of a samurai.

Wait, a samurai? That could have many different meanings in this particular cinematic universe, but it definitely sounds like we’re getting a very different type of Star Wars movie with Rogue One.
