Drax Almost Made The Same Mistake As Star-Lord In Avengers: Infinity War

It’s been a rough year for Peter Quill, between the loss of his loved one and the loss of his own life, having turned to dust during the climactic population purge of Avengers: Infinity War. To add insult to injury, our old friend Star-Lord isn’t exactly getting a lot of sympathy from the fans, who are holding the space adventurer partially responsible for letting Thanos’ genocidal finger-snap happen in the first place.

Sure, actor Chris Pratt and Infinity War co-director Joe Russo have each said their piece in defense of that infamous moment where Peter loses his cool on Titan, inadvertently screwing up the team’s plans to stop Thanos. But in a film full of flawed people making questionable decisions, Quill’s mistake is being consistently placed right up there with Thor’s failure to go for the head as one the saga’s biggest blunders.

What’s more, a user on Reddit’s now adding fuel to the fire with the observation that earlier in the movie, Star-Lord prevents his fellow Guardian from making the same reckless error, adding ‘hypocrisy’ to the list of accusations you can throw at the character.

The scene in question takes place on the planet Knowhere, where the team’s planning a sneak attack against the Mad Titan. Seeking vengeance for the death of his family, Drax the Destroyer is all ready to charge at the tyrant before Quill steps in and stops Dave Bautista’s character from acting so rashly. Nonetheless, fast-forward to later in the movie and Peter himself is the one failing to keep his emotions in check, launching his own ill-advised assault on Thanos after learning of Gamora’s death. Sadly, there was no one in a position to prevent him from letting his rage get the better of him, and thus all hell breaks loose thereafter.

While Avengers: Infinity War didn’t give Pratt’s character the noblest of endings, it’s a safe bet that you’ll still be seeing Star-Lord and his friend Drax again when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019.
