Captain America: Civil War is poised to break a number of box office records this weekend, but the movie isn’t going to have a huge amount of time to enjoy being #1 thanks to the impending release of X-Men: Apocalypse later this month. After all, X-Men: Days of Future Past exceeded expectations back in 2014, so there’s a very good chance that this one will, too.
Overshadowed somewhat by Marvel’s latest (and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice), it’s likely that the Bryan Singer-helmed release could end up being one of 2016’s best comic book adaptations, especially if TV spots like the one above are any indication.

Featuring some great new scenes, dialogue and a lot of previously revealed moments which have now been improved with updated special effects, it’s clear that Singer is going all out with X-Men: Apocalypse. In fact, this movie looks like the most comic book faithful adaptation from Fox – other than Deadpool, of course – to date. And with positive buzz starting to build ahead of the release, we can’t wait to see what the studio has cooked up here.
As well as returning cast members such as Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, X-Men: Apocalypse will also introduce Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Oscar Isaac, Ben Hardy and Olivia Munn, and is set to be released on May 27th, 2016.
