Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele’s love affair reaches dizzying new heights in the latest trailer for Fifty Shades Darker, James Foley’s erotic sequel that’s due to open on February 10, 2017.
Having taken over at the helm from Sam Taylor-Johnson, who bowed out of Universal’s lucrative franchise following a fairy public fallout with series creator E.L. James, Foley is poised to introduce viewers to a sequel that is quite literally darker than its predecessor in both name and nature.
Still licking his wounds from the events of the first movie, here we see a Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) desperate to rekindle his love affair with Ana (Dakota Johnson). Wary that their relationship is too fiery for its own good, Johnson’s lead character expresses caution at first, but those of you familiar with E.L. James’ literary series will know all too well that these two lovebirds can only be apart for so long.
And so, with her career blossoming at a Seattle publishing house, all looks to be well for Miss. Steele – that is, until a string of Christian’s unhinged former flames begin to emerge onto the scene, threatening both Ana’s well-being and her once-ironclad relationship with Christian himself. Clunky dialogue and wildly over-the-top sex scenes ensue.
Every fairy tale has a dark side, it seems, and Fifty Shades Darker will court moviegoers back into Ana and Christian’s world on February 10, 2017. Kim Basinger, Hugh Dancy, Bella Heathcote and Eric Johnson headline the roster of newcomers.
When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.
