Exclusive Interview With Fiona Dourif And Danielle Bisutti On Curse Of Chucky

In Chucky's storied 25 year history, Andy Barclay has typically been the target. Then the focused shifted to Katherine Heigl, and last but not least, Jennifer Tilly. We all know how those stories ended though, and in Curse Of Chucky, Don Mancini has decided to introduce not only one strong female character, but two, in Fiona Dourif's wheelchair bound Nica, and her pushy sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti). While I won't expose their respective fates, let's just say these two give Chucky a run for his money, one a little more so than the other.

WGTC: Now Fiona, I obviously have to ask this – do you think we’ve seen the last of Nica?

Fiona Dourif: I think we do not know. If Don Mancini writes anything for me, I’ll do it. I love Don Mancini, I think he’s super talented, and there’s certainly talk about it. We will see. It leaves the door open.

WGTC: Let’s play with Halloween a little bit. If you can be killed in any other horror franchise, which would it be?

Danielle Bisutti: I was fortunate enough to be a spectre in Insidious Chapter 2 and also be killed by Lin Shaye, who is fantastic – that was pretty epic. I’m sort of hoping my ghost comes back for the third one though! I don’t know, fingers crossed. The Mother of Death needs a reprise.

I would say the most horrifying would be A Nightmare On Elm Street. C’mon! Who could sleep as a kid after seeing that! That’s when he gets you! With those long, manicured nails that are blades! Who would it be for you, Fiona?

Fiona Dourif: The most horrifying one would be raped by a tree, that would suck.

WGTC: Evil Dead, yes!

Danielle Bisutti: Shoot, that happens in that movie? That’s the most horrible thing I’ve ever heard!

Fiona Dourif: Like a very bloody way, so I don’t think I’d pick that one. Who would I like to meet? I feel like that’s the question. Which one. Probably Freddy [Krueger].

WGTC: Alright, so what’s your go-to horror movie for Halloween?

Fiona Dourif: I think my favorite horror movie at the moment is an old one – Rosemary’s Baby? I saw it for the first time and it’s so great! I loved it! What’s my favorite horror movie? It’s probably not Rosemary’s Baby, but it’s my favorite at the moment. My favorite of all time is probably The Exorcist.

Danielle Bisutti: I wasn’t allowed to watch any of that growing up. I was in a very strict Christian household, so The Exorcist, all those things, Rosemary’s Baby, Carrie – no. Never, no. What’s my go-to? I cannot watch horror movies, that’s my answer. I’m a total scaredy cat, so the answer is nothing.

WGTC: A more lighthearted question – what’s your favorite trick or treating candy to receive?

Fiona Dourif: Everyone always just wants the Reese’s. How has nobody figured that out? They want the Reese’s and the Snickers. Nobody wants the little sweeties and candy corn. Plus, kids are always disappointed when you’re cheap and you don’t get full sized – and I’m always cheap. Oh well.

Danielle Bisutti: There’s something to be said for peanut butter and chocolate. I also like mint and chocolate, so anything smooth and cool, a Junior Mint or Peppermint Patty, I’ll jump up on the couch and do the whole commercial. “Bite into a Peppermint Patty…” and then I’m in a whole new world.

WGTC: So here’s your chance to plug future material. What can we expect to see both of you in next?

Fiona Dourif: I just wrapped a movie with Paul Sorvino that I have coming out soon. There’s a few genre projects that are now appearing before me too. I’m excited to be a part of this world and we’ll see what happens.

Danielle Bisutti: Like Fiona I have a couple little horror/sci-fi films. I am going to be in a comedy by Michael Rosenbaum called Back In The Day, it’s in January, he’s from Smallville I’m sure you know. We have a whole cast of funny characters. Harland Williams, Nick Swardson – it’s going to be hysterical.

Then, Harland, who I’ve become quite good friends with, has just cast me in the craziest web series I’ve ever read in my entire life. It’s a post-apocalyptic setting where the question is now that the human race has pretty much been wiped out by this virus and you’re a survivor, do you continue the human race, or do you wipe it out completely? Basically, he told me I get to be in black leather and wield a weapon, and I said yes. I play an insane woman – I guess you’re sort of seeing a trend here after Insidious: Chapter 2? He goes, “I think you’ve got what it takes to lose your mind and be violent,” so of course I thought, “Just what my Christian parents always wanted from me.”

WGTC: The career path they always dreamed of?

Danielle Bisutti: It’s all happening for me right now!

I’d like to thank Fiona Dourif and Danielle Bisutti for this exclusive interview, and be sure to check out Curse Of Chucky, available now on all home viewing formats!
