The A-Team Director Offers Disney A Solution To The James Gunn Problem

In case you missed it, yesterday, Marvel halted production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and for good reason. Not only is the irreverent supergroup without a director, but at the frequency and ferocity Dave Bautista is attacking the House of Mouse, they may very well find themselves minus Drax the Destroyer. Thankfully, though, filmmaker Joe Carnahan has a solution to the many a woe plaguing Disney and Marvel at the moment: “Rehire Fucking James Gunn.”

In case you missed it, Marvel halted production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 yesterday, and for good reason. Not only is the irreverent supergroup without a director, but at the frequency and ferocity that Dave Bautista’s attacking the House of Mouse, they may very well find themselves minus Drax the Destroyer, too. Thankfully, then, filmmaker Joe Carnahan has a solution to the many a woe plaguing Disney and Marvel at the moment: “Rehire Fucking James Gunn.”

There’s certainly been no shortage of high profile talent weighing in on the termination of the director, and this isn’t even the first time Carnahan’s sounded off on the matter. Last month, The Grey director urged everyone to sign the petition to rehire Gunn, which has been making the rounds online for some time now.

In this instance, though, Carnahan didn’t mince words. The director of The A-Team took to Twitter late Friday evening and politely proffered “an instant fix for your GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3 issues.” From there, however, the language got much more colorful. “Rehire Fucking James Gunn,” Carnahan clamored, before concluding: “Problem Solved.”

Unfortunately for Carnahan and the rest of the MCU fandom, I’m afraid the ship to rehire Gunn set sail quite a while ago. Last week, despite talk that the House of Mouse might consider reinstating the filmmaker, The Walt Disney Company put their foot down and since then, Marvel’s presumedly reached out to Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.

Granted, it’s unclear what project the two parties discussed, but your mind would intrinsically wander to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. After all, given that the Wellington, New Zealand native’s busy at the moment, maybe that’s why Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been indefinitely pushed back?
