Freddy Krueger Pays The Goldbergs A Visit In New Halloween Episode Photos

Given how many times the dream demon has been seemingly been killed only to come back for a sequel, it only figures that Robert Englund would some day make a return as Freddy Krueger, even if it comes from an unlikely source.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that the star of A Nightmare on Elm Street would be reprising his most famous role in a Halloween episode of The Goldbergs. Naturally, fans of the classic slasher series were over the moon, and if these new batch of pics are anything to go by, the team behind the ‘80s-set family sitcom intend to make the best of what could well be Englund’s final appearance in the role.

As you can see, Englund’s make-up job has stayed pretty faithful to the character’s heyday, though we’ll presumably be getting something closer to the ‘funny’ Freddy of the sequels than the ‘serious’ Freddy of the first couple of movies. We can also observe some nicely applied fog effects and a few little girls with a jump rope, suggesting that another rendition of “One, Two, Freddy’s Coming For You” might just be in order.

Representing the Goldberg camp is Wendi McLendon-Covey as Beverly, who looks to be doing a pretty good job holding her own against the famed killer. If you’re wondering how these two worlds could possibly meet, the official synopsis for the episode – titled “Mister Knifey-Hands” – reads as follows:

“Despite Beverly’s wishes, Jackie’s parents allow Adam to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street and a disagreement between the families ensues. But Beverly dreams of facing off with horror icon Freddy Krueger (guest star Robert Englund), which teaches her an important lesson about her son’s relationship with Jackie. Meanwhile, Erica realizes she’s not as popular as she once was as she starts hanging out at William Penn Academy despite the fact she’s no longer a student there.”

The episode is scheduled to air on October 24th, and we can imagine that for many a Nightmare on Elm Street fan, this Goldbergs cameo will be the slasher event of the season. Sorry, Michael Myers.
