Chalk it up to the low expectations going into the film’s release, or simply the lack of marketing from Sony’s end, but Rob Letterman’s Goosebumps proved to be one of the sleeper hits of 2015. Critics and audiences alike took to the family-friendly scarefest, which conjured up a healthy $150 million box office cume off the back of a $58m budget. A sequel was quickly green lit back in April but since then, all has been quiet on the R.L. Stine front. That is, until now.
Exhibitor Relations claims the tentatively titled Goosebumps 2 has been earmarked for release on January 26, 2018. No other information was divulged, but we know from previous reports that Sony has locked down the core creative team of Rob Letterman, screenwriter Darren Lemke, and producers Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz for another round of supernatural thrills and spills.
Things are shaping up pretty well behind the scenes, then, but the studio is yet to announce whether the Goosebumps cast – namely Jack Black, Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush – will reprise their respective roles for the planned 2018 sequel. With filming expected to begin sometime this year, expect an official announcement very soon indeed. For now, here’s that aforementioned Tweet from Exhibitor Relations:
Prepare to be goosed again…you know who you are. Sony’s GOOSEBUMPS 2 is a go and drops January 26, 2018.

Readers rejoice! Goosebumps 2 appears to be officially moving forward over at Sony. January 26, 2018 is the current target, indicating that Letterman’s ghastly sequel should be ready to lens later this year. Stay tuned for more.
