Guardians Of The Galaxy Promo Poster Spotted

Even with the November 8th release date of Thor: The Dark World right around the corner, us Marvel fans are constantly being reminded that the studio is currently hard at work on half a dozen other projects as well. One of the biggest question marks on Marvel's packed schedule is next summer's intergalactic caper Guardians of the Galaxy, which follows a human pilot and his motley crew of extraterrestrials as they attempt to protect a powerful object from the ruthless Thanos (whom fans previously glimpsed in a post-credits scene from The Avengers).

Even with the November 8th release date of Thor: The Dark World right around the corner, us Marvel fans are constantly being reminded that the studio is currently hard at work on half a dozen other projects as well. One of the biggest question marks on Marvel’s packed schedule is next summer’s intergalactic caper Guardians of the Galaxy, which follows a human pilot and his motley crew of extraterrestrials as they attempt to protect a powerful object from the ruthless Thanos (whom fans previously glimpsed in a post-credits scene from The Avengers).

A promotional poster for the film, which highlights its colorful cast of characters, was recently spotted by a sharp-eyed fan in São Paulo, Brazil, though at press time it’s unclear whether the poster is official or fan-made. Either way, it’s still pretty awesome.

The titular guardians are all here, including de facto leader Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), hulking warrior Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), green-skinned femme fatale Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and tree-like alien Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). Otherwise, there’s only one item worth noting in the poster: the mysterious object in Star-Lord’s hand. The blue, glowing sphere certainly evokes the Cosmic Cube that wrought havoc in Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers, so I’d have to guess that it’s that aforementioned powerful object desperately sought by Thanos.

Guardians of the Galaxy also stars Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, an evil general of the mighty Thanos, Michael Rooker as perceptive alien hunter Yondu, Karen Gillan as villainous space pirate Nebula, Benicio del Toro as the all-powerful Collector and Djimon Hounsou as Korath, one of Ronan’s allies.

What do you think of the new poster? Are you excited for Guardians of the Galaxy, or are you not confident that the film can continue Marvel’s winning streak? Let us know in the comments section!

Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st, 2014.
