Currently lensing across parts of South Carolina, the slasher sequel is coming by way of David Gordon Green, who is pictured here alongside the long-haired Curtis. She’s about to reprise her famous role as Laurie Strode for the first time in 16 years, and though we’ve already laid eyes on leaked set photos, the following image brings us closer to JLC and her director, who are about to unleash Michael Myers once again.

It’s totally free of spoilers, too, in case you’re avoiding any and all story clues in the build-up to October 18th, while the tweet itself featured the caption: “First shot. First day. Same slate. Same Laurie.” Check it out in the gallery below along with some other recently released pics (both from the set and from marketing material).

Fans of John Carpenter’s cult hit will know that this is a pretty familiar look for Laurie Strode, who has become a grandmother ever since the original Halloween released in 1978. That’s right, Jamie Lee Curtis will be sharing the scares with Ant-Man and the Wasp star Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, who have signed on to play Karen and Allyson Strode, respectively.

It has all the makings of a generational horror hit, and though some have taken issue with David Gordan Green’s decision to bypass all other sequels in the franchise, the creative retcon lends Halloween a relatively blank slate – even if it winds up tweaking the ending to Carpenter’s classic.

Halloween comes knocking on October 18th, and when it does, horror fans will be able to unwrap a spooky sequel that doubles down on dread, not gore.
