Ready for another helping of speculative reports regarding Star Wars: The Last Jedi?
Making Star Wars has unearthed another string of rumors pertaining to Rian Johnson’s sci-fi sequel and, specifically, Benicio del Toro’s involvement in it. Up until now, the true identity of del Toro’s character has been cloaked in a thick veil of secrecy – such is the Star Wars way – leading to nine kinds of fan theories about how he factors into the actual story. For instance, does he hail from the dark side of the Force, or the light? If today’s report is anything to go by, it’s actually neither.
Playing a figure known as D.J. – whether this is merely a codename used on set or a genuine nickname is up for question – Making Star Wars alleges del Toro’s mystery character is a bit of a drifter, one who operates in the criminal underworld of Disney’s prized universe. Cloaked in a jet-black trench coat with cropped black hair, there’s also mention of a Han Solo-esque belt along with a surprisingly fancy ship. Further details of that space vessel can be found through the link below, though considering that Benicio del Toro’s figure purportedly has a chequered past, we’d wager that he either stole the ship or managed to piece it together in his journey across the galaxy.
