Three years on from Alvarez’s divisive reimagining of The Evil Dead, the Uruguayan filmmaker is back with another, er, breathless white-knuckle ride that finds Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette and Daniel Zovatto as three schemers out to break into the homes of wealthy people and do away with their plundered loot. However, their latest mark, a blind war veteran played by Stephen Lang, goes off the rails rather fast after the trio make a shocking discovery.

Rocky (Jane Levy), Alex (Dylan Minnette) and Money (Daniel Zovatto) are three Detroit thieves who get their kicks by breaking into the houses of wealthy people. Money gets word about a blind veteran (Stephen Lang) who won a major cash settlement following the death of his only child. Figuring he’s an easy target, the trio invades the man’s secluded home in an abandoned neighborhood. Finding themselves trapped inside, the young intruders must fight for their lives after making a shocking discovery about their supposedly helpless victim.

To prep you for its arrival, our own Matt Donato dove headfirst into Alvarez’s twisted thriller and emerged relatively impressed. There’s also an exclusive interview with leading stars Dylan Minnette and Daniel Zovatto, along with the director himself.

Don’t Breathe will loom over theaters on August 26.
