How To Train Your Dragon 3 Gets Pushed Back A Year To 2019

The past few years have been tough for fans of DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon series, as the second instalment hit theatres back in 2014 and since then, there really hasn't been much information on the third outing (which is set to cap off the trilogy). The film is in the works, and was originally supposed to arrive back in June of this year. However, a delay pushed it into 2017.

The past few years have been tough for fans of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon series, as the second instalment hit theatres back in 2014 and since then, there really hasn’t been much information on the third outing (which is set to cap off the trilogy). The film is in the works, and was originally supposed to arrive back in June of this year. However, a delay pushed it into 2017.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, a second delay hit, kicking the threequel into 2018. Now, we’ve got even more bad news, as the studio has decided to push back How to Train Your Dragon 3 yet again by moving it to 2019. That’s according to Deadline, who tell us that the new, and hopefully final release date is March 1st, 2019. Dean DeBlois remains attached as director, but as of right now, we’ve got no casting news to report on – though we imagine that most of the core members will be back.

In addition to the new release date, we also have the official logline to share with you, and you can check it out below:

“As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away.  When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.”

It’s not much, but it does at least give us some idea of the plot. Plus, over the years we’ve had several pieces of information trickle out onto the web, which we recently compiled in a handy feature showcasing everything we know about How to Train Your Dragon 3 so far. Still, none of that makes this news any easier to swallow and fans will surely be disappointed yet again to learn that their beloved series is now even further away from its return.

Tell us, are you still looking forward to How to Train Your Dragon 3? Or have you given up on Hiccup and co. thanks to all these delays? Let us know by dropping a comment down below.
