Isla Fisher In Talks To Play Myrtle Wilson In The Great Gatsby

Despite Baz Luhrmann saying that he doesn't know if The Great Gatsby will be his next film, it seems that the project is lining up nicely. It already has its major characters of Gatsby, Daisy and Carraway filled by Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire respectively and Ben Affleck is circling the role of Tom Buchanan. Now it seems as if other supporting roles are beginning to be filled. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Isla Fisher is set to join the film as the crucially important character Myrtle Wilson, the woman who has an affair with Tom Buchanan and is instrumental in building to the story's dark climax. The report also seems to suggest that Warner Bros. is looking to move the project ahead in late summer and it will be shot in 3D

I’m quite excited about this one, if any director is a perfect match for Fitzgerald’s extravagantly mounted masterpiece it’s Luhrmann. He is rightly suited to the material, most of which is all about the beautiful surface hiding darkness underneath, he can pull off the style but this should brutally assess his ability to do substance that can match that style. I hope he can pull it off.
