James Gunn Wants You To See Avengers: Endgame

Thanos is gonna get a bug up his ass this weekend in the finale that is Avengers: Endgame. Well, maybe. So many different things could happen to the Purple Titan, but most of us will just have to wait 24-48 hours until we find out for sure. Just in case you were still on the fence about whether or not to see the biggest cinematic offering the world has produced since Movie 43 though, true auteur and thankfully redeemed director James Gunn had a call to action on an otherwise innocuous, adorable post to his Instagram.

Apparently, since being rehired after Disney pulled their head out of their ass, Gunn holds no hard feelings towards the company. In fact, his cute-as-heck Instagram post, featuring a Pug Mug filled with conservative tears (assumedly), is encouraging fans of all stars and stripes to go out and see the massive team-up flick. Since the film will probably feature the resurrection of his well-beloved intergalactic goofballs, why wouldn’t he want you to go cheer on all the Thanos-fighters? Granted, if you’ve waited this long, you ain’t gonna be getting a good seat.

The director was rather infamously booted, albeit temporarily, from returning to the big chair for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 via a bad-faith hate campaign started by a subterranean sexual assaulting cretin who lurks in the depths of Alt-Right Twitter Hell. Disney took the bait and flung Gunn to the wolves, which very nearly derailed the monolithic company’s plans for the space-faring Marvel squad’s continued adventures. Shortly after, Warner Brothers seized on Disney’s massive goof and picked up James for their reboot of The Suicide Squad, which, wow, what a perfect fit.

Due to the mix-up, Gunn will be finishing any and all DC related projects before heading back to Marvel and filming more Guardian adventures. He’s actually so busy shooting The Suicide Squad that he wasn’t able to attend the premiere of Avengers: Endgame, so this call-to-action is a cute way of James Gunn saying: “Hey, go see this for me, would ya?”
