Brilliant character actor Mark Strong is now attached to the British crime thriller Welcome to the Punch, which also stars James McAvoy.

In the vein of Heat, the film focuses on the resurfacing of London detective Max Lewinsky’s old nemesis, an armed robber who is known as Red Diesel, after five years. This, however, is only the tip of the iceberg for a massive conspiracy. The film, written and directed by Eran Creevy, will be shopped at Cannes and is headed for production in July.

It looks as if Strong and McAvoy will be going head to head here, which is not as exciting as when Pacino and DeNiro did it, but it will likely still turn out well. They’re both strong actors who constantly give impressive performances and seeing them go up against each other could be fun.
