Variety is reporting that 50/50 star Joseph Gordon-Levitt may join Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. There is no information on what role he would be taking, but this possible casting choice wouldn’t surprise me.

Gordon-Levitt was seen having lunch with Tarantino nearly a month ago and has reportedly struck up a good friendship with his Inception co-star Leonardo Dicaprio, who is playing the lead antagonist in Django Unchained.

The only role that would be plausible for Gordon-Levitt, from reading the script, would be Scott Harmony, who is described as an overweight young man, which could lead to Gordon-Levitt putting on the pounds.

Django Unchained plans to shoot in January in New Orleans which would leave Gordon-Levitt free, as he is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, both of which wrap before Christmas.

Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Johnson, Dennis Christopher, Laura Cayouette, Gerald McRaney and Tom Savini and is in cinemas on December 25th, 2012.
