Even beyond the core five members (sorry, Superman), Justice League is packed to the rafters when it comes to A-list talent.

From J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon) to Willem Dafoe (Vulko), Amy Adams (Lois Lane) to Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf), you don’t have to look too far to find big-name talent, and thanks to the film’s latest TV spot, today brings forth another sneak peek at Amber Heard in action as Queen Mera.

The soon-to-be Aquaman star is said to hold a relatively minor role in Justice League – ditto for Willem Dafoe’s aqua ally, Vulko – as it lends viewers a chance to get acquainted with Atlantean royalty before the advent of James Wan’s solo movie late next year.

Getting back to Justice League, though, and this is an apocalyptic tease of what’s to come. Soon after Steppenwolf declares war against Earth in the name of those all-powerful Mother Boxes – there are three in total, which explains the cutaways to Atlantis and Themyscira – the Caped Crusader and Wonder Woman lead the charge against Hinds’ mega-villain, and that’s when the real fun begins.

If nothing else, this is another timely reminder that Justice League is shaping up to be a visual treat. Roger Deakins and Blade Runner 2049 may be taking home the prize for 2017’s best-looking movie, but Zack Snyder is no slouch when it comes to engrossing spectacle, and the DCEU’s latest instalment looks set to deliver in spades.

As of last week, Justice League now shares a release date with The Punisher, Marvel and Netflix’s long-awaited solo series featuring the fearless Frank Castle. So it’s fair to say that comic book fans will be a little spoilt for choice on November 17th.
