Katniss Everdeen is ready for her close-up, it seems. Following up on last week’s mysterious poster that showcased the back of the character — replete with quiver and stylised jet-black wings — Lionsgate Entertainment has finally unveiled a new poster that showcases our heroine in all her glory ahead of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1.
Split into two cinematic chapters in the vein of Harry Potter and, more recently, Twilight, Mockingjay — Part 1 will orbit around Katniss Everdeen once again as she finds herself in the mysterious District 13. Under the tutelage of current president Coin, the protagonist must digs deep to plucks up the courage in order to save Peeta and the surrounding nation of Panem — hence the tagline: I Am. I Will.
The threequel is to be directed by Francis Lawrence following his work on last year’s well-received Catching Fire and will star Jennifer Lawrence — no relation, mind you — fighting front and center, Josh Hutcherson as on-off love interest, Peeta and Julianne Moore as the aforementioned president.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 is the first part of the franchise’s conclusive chapter and is set to hit theaters on November 21st, 2014. In the meantime, be sure to leave your own preliminary thoughts about the franchise’s imminent conclusion in the comments section below.
