Keanu Reeves Reportedly Playing The Villain In The Eternals

A few months back, we learned that we came very, very close to having Keanu Reeves in the MCU. Apparently, the actor was actively courted for the role of Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel, with reports saying that he was all set to take the part only for him to realize it’d cause scheduling conflicts with John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

Given that the action films have been something of a passion project for Reeves, it makes complete sense that he didn’t want to put the threequel’s production in jeopardy. Plus, while the part of Yon-Rogg could be played by any number of actors, there’s only one John Wick. And so, the two parties went their separate ways, but with Reeves seeing a bit of a resurgence in his career as of late, it seems that Marvel’s still eager to work with him.

Take this with a grain of salt, but rumors floating around on 4chan claim that the actor is now circling The Eternals, and though there’s been no official confirmation on the matter just yet, this isn’t too hard to believe. And here’s why.

For one, we know that Marvel’s interested in having him in the MCU, as like we said above, they courted him for the part of Yon-Rogg. Not only that, but as we’ve seen with the cast that’s already been confirmed for The Eternals, the studio’s aiming high here and trying to assemble some top tier talent for the project.

But what’s perhaps most interesting is it’s said that Reeves is being eyed for the role of Druig, a villain whose powers include superhuman levels of strength, speed, stamina, durability, invulnerability and energy projection. He’s also of genius level intellect and, here’s the kicker, is said to be well-trained in hand-to-hand combat. And we all know Keanu can kick some serious ass, right? I mean, the guy’s studied Jiu Jitsu, Wushu, boxing and Krav Maga. Suffice it to say, he wouldn’t have any trouble handling the combat.

As mentioned above, though, this is just a rumor for the time being and while 4chan has yielded a lot of accurate MCU tidbits in the past, we’ll await confirmation from Marvel Studios before getting too excited. That being said, having Keanu Reeves play the villain in The Eternals is definitely something we could get behind. Could you?
