Kevin Smith Reacts To The New Avengers: Endgame Trailer

Yesterday morning, Marvel released a short Avengers: Endgame trailer that was noteworthy for offering our first proper look at Thanos in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel. The preview even gave the tyrant a few lines, and it seems that hearing the Mad Titan speak again has brought out the vengeful side of filmmaker and podcaster Kevin Smith.

The Clerks helmsman is a verified MCU fan who claimed back in January to have seen Infinity War 53 times. It therefore only figures that Smith is pretty pumped for the sequel, and in a recent tweet, the writer-director offered his excited take on the latest trailer:

“Hearing a new line of dialogue from Thanos gave me the chills, but seeing Tony and Steve together again? Alright, @Avengers – assemble already!!! And beat on that purple piece of shit until he looks like M.O.D.O.K.!!!”

For those unaware, M.O.D.O.K. is a villain from the comics who’s essentially a giant head that gets around in a flying chair.

The new trailer aside, Marvel has been very shy about sharing footage of Thanos, which has essentially created a blank canvas for the fans to spin their theories. One prediction that pops up online every now and then, for example, is that the purple conqueror won’t actually be the main villain of the picture, but will instead be replaced by an “even greater threat.”

It’s an interesting idea, though we’ve yet to see any significant evidence to suggest who this new villain might be. So if Marvel really does have such a twist line up, then they’ve done an exceptionally good job at hiding it. Either way, we’ll find out what’s in store for Thanos and his few surviving foes when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
