American Horror Story and A Star Is Born actress Lady Gaga is seemingly still in contention for either Huntress or Black Canary in Warner's Birds of Prey movie.

Though it hasn’t quite hit the ground running like Shazam! and Wonder Woman 1984, Birds of Prey is still a big, big priority for Warner Bros. And one need only look at the studio’s pursuit of Lady Gaga for evidence of that.

The global superstar is currently stealing headlines left, right and center for her incredibly nuanced performance opposite Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born, and we’ve already caught wind that Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) may be making inroads into Hollywood’s superhero scene for Birds of Prey.

That was three weeks ago, and while many had assumed that Lady Gaga had dropped out of the running due to the radio silence from Warner Bros., DanielRPK of SuperBroMovies (h/t CBM) brings word today that the studio has actually upped its bid, tabling an improved pay packet and the choice of either Huntress or Black Canary.

Vanessa Kirby, Alexandra Daddario, and Blake Lively were among the early candidates rumored for Birds of Prey, but if this latest update is true, then Warner Bros. may be shifting its focus ever so slightly, as it seeks to flesh out an ensemble cast around Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, the undisputed lynchpin in this female-powered mash-up.

Whether Lady Gaga actually accepts this improved offer will be told in time; earlier this year, it was rumored that the singer-songwriter turned down Warner’s initial offer for reasons unknown, but that hasn’t quelled the studio’s enthusiasm to land someone who is arguably one of the biggest stars on the planet.

This is also yet more evidence that Gaga has a bright Hollywood future to look forward to, and we’ll be bringing you all the latest on Birds of Prey as the DC spinoff movie begins to coalesce.
