Community and Love actress Gillian Jacob has inked a deal to join Life of the Party, a New Line comedy that will have her star opposite Melissa McCarthy.
That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, confirming that Jacob is attached to the role of an unnamed sorority sister in the Ben Falcone-directed flick. Story details remain few and far between at this time, though THR notes that it’s been pitched in the “vein of the Rodney Dangerfield hit college comedy Back to School.”
What we do know is that Life of the Party heralds a new collaboration between Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone. Critical acclaim may elude them, but there’s no doubting that both Tammy and The Boss proved to relatively bankable hits. We’re hoping that the pair buck trend and churn out a movie that satisfies across the board. McCarthy and Falcone are the brains behind the script, and it’s understood the twosome will produce opposite Chris Henchy (Daddy’s Home).
In light of today’s casting, Gillian Jacob will be the Life of the Party for Ben Falcone and we understand the actress recently wrapped work on Love season 2 for Netflix. Melissa McCarthy, meanwhile, is part of Paul Feig’s crack team of Ghostbusters that will soon light up the silver screen on July 15.
