Mark Hamill And William Shatner Are Having A Hilarious Twitter Feud

Nothing can make a Star Trek or Star Wars fan twitch more than throwing up a Vulcan salute and saying, "May the force be with you." And there isn't anything much funnier to both fandoms than Mark Hamill and William Shatner going at it on Twitter.

Nothing can make a Star Trek or Star Wars fan twitch more than throwing up a Vulcan salute and saying, “May the force be with you.” And there isn’t anything much funnier to both fandoms than Mark Hamill and William Shatner going at it on Twitter. Whether it’s over a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or a pile of dirt on Mars, the bickering between these two is just plain awesome.

In case you missed it, first check out the recent discovery of a sand dune shaped like the Trek symbol on the red planet below.

Luke Skywalker himself thinks it looks more like an Australian hunting weapon or a delicious food item though, with Hamill tweeting:

Their followers were having just as much fun as the stars were, too, and their replies are enough to fill you up, Scotty.

Both actors are pretty busy, so it’s nice to see they can spare a few minutes to have some fun with one another. Shatner has several movies coming out over the next little while, including the animated horror To Your Last Death, and Hamill will be appearing (in some shape or form) in this year’s saga-ending Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker, which will hit theaters on December 20th.

For those of you who’d like to know how the dunes mentioned above formed the way they did, the University of Arizona’s HiRISE website will explain it for you much better than I can. Spoiler alert: it involves a “complex story of dunes, lava, and wind.” Their words, not mine.

But circling back to this Twitter debacle, and were Hamill and Shatner just celebrating Picard Day in their own way? We may never know. What we do know is that the debate over whether Star Wars or Star Trek is better will never end, and we hope the playful banter between these two icons doesn’t, either.
