Marvel producer confirms ‘Ant-Man 4’ discussions are already happening

Ant-Man could be the second Marvel superhero to recieve it's forrth solo film.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has not yet arrived in theaters worldwide and Marvel Studios has confirmed that it’s now working on the fourth iteration of this size-shifting hero. This would make Ant-Man on par with Thor to have a total of four standalone films in the MCU. The same can be said for Guardians of the Galaxy if you count the Disney Plus Holiday special.

Marvel film producer, Stephen Broussard, told ComicBook.com that he’s currently in discussions with Marvel HQ about producing a fourth Ant-Man film. He said that these conversations are somewhat hushed, yet he expressed excitement about continuing Ant-Man’s story in the MCU.

“We’re already thinking about it. It’s like, every movie’s its own battle and you bear the scars of making it and wanting to make it great. But hope springs eternal and you start to put yourself back together after the journey of making the movie. You’re like, ‘Yeah, what if we did X and what if we did Y?’ Like the wheels start turning, you can’t help yourself. I don’t want to say anything about specifically what those are, but yeah, you can’t help yourself. Those conversations, those whispers have already started to happen between myself and Peyton and Kevin.”

It is noticeable that Marvel Studios tend to its standalone superhero stories after the third film. This was the case for the OG Avengers lineup, such as Iron Man and Captain America. Meanwhile, other Marvel heroes, such as the Hulk and Black Widow, only had one. However, not every MCU character receives this treatment. Thor currently has four standalone films, with Chris Hemsworth showing interest to take part in a fifth movie.

It’s currently unknown if Ant-Man would return for a fourth iteration. However, Kevin Feige praised the underestimated hero for playing a “key role” in saving the universe, hence why his story is what kicks off phase five. At the same time, Evangeline Lilly believes that The Wasp should receive her own solo film. The future of Ant-Man remains a mystery but if the producers have expressed a passion to continue working on this hero, then there shouldn’t be any reason why that can’t be the case.

For now, Marvel fans can look forward to the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania on Feb. 17, 2023.
