It's really a matter of time before Black Panther and Nick Fury cross paths. Or so says Samuel L. Jackson, who spoke to ET about his tenure as the barking S.H.I.E.L.D. director.

When it comes to Black Panther and Nick Fury, it’s only a matter of time before T’Challa crosses paths with the barking director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Or so says Samuel L. Jackson.

The Incredibles 2 star and all-around MCU veteran spoke to Entertainment Tonight recently about his ongoing Marvel tenure, which almost included a brief cameo during Black Panther‘s tense casino scene. It’s here where the newly-appointed King T’Challa attempts to spring a trap for Ulysses Klaue, though Andy Serkis’ war criminal is able to outwit T’Challa and his allies – namely Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) – and escape.

Before shit hits the fan, though, T’Challa encounters an old friend in Martin Freeman’s Everett K. Ross, and it’s here where Samuel L. Jackson hoped for a Nick Fury cameo.

He should’ve been there. He should have been somewhere — maybe in that casino in Korea when all of that stuff jumped off. Just so you could say, ‘Oh, Nick Fury is out in the world looking for whatever the evil in the world is’. He’s just there and is kind of like, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s that Black Panther dude.’ ‘Cause there’s no way in the world he doesn’t know where Wakanda is or what vibranium is or any of that, because he’s Nick Fury.

Alas, the Powers That Be over at Marvel Studios decided to shelve said cameo until a later date, as it’s nigh on certain that Black Panther and Nick Fury will meet…eventually.

It was just like, ‘Ehh, nah. We’re good. Nick Fury and Black Panther will meet somewhere. But not there.’

Now for the million-dollar question: when will Nick Fury encounter the King of Wakanda? Chances are Marvel has something special planned for the so-far untitled Avengers 4, though we should stress that both Fury and T’Challa were dusted by Thanos. Perhaps Black Panther and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s former director will become acquainted within the Soul Stone, then? Time will tell.
