Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the best of friends, but that doesn’t stop them both poking fun at each other whenever the opportunity arises. Talking at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote The Martian, Damon was asked how he thinks Jason Bourne – a role he’ll reprise in next year’s new Bourne movie from director Paul Greengrass – would fare in a fight with Affleck’s Caped Crusader.
“Jason Bourne would kick the s–t out of Batman – absolutely!” he joked. “Batman’s gotta take on Superman first, if he could beat him, then maybe he could take on Jason Bourne.”
In all seriousness, if the characters were ever to meet, that would make for a very interesting fight scene indeed. Asked how much he knows about his friend’s take on the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Damon admitted that he hasn’t heard the voice yet, though it’s not like he’s been begging to either.
“I haven’t been like, ‘Come on, dude, just do it once,’ I haven’t asked him to talk Batman yet, but now maybe I will,” he laughed.
Despite rumours at one point that he was being eyed for the role of Aquaman, The Martian star has yet to take on a superhero role, and offered this explanation:
“I think they’re kind of out of superheroes, Ben’s going to be like the sixth or seventh Batman, so I don’t think there’s really any left. So I’m good. Jason Bourne is my superhero.”
Tell us, who do you think would win in a fight between Batman and Bourne?
