Erin, Jillian, Abby and Patty – Paul Feig’s fearsome foursome that are suited, booted and ready to take on the supernatural nasties of NYC in today’s batch of images for Sony’s Ghostbusters reboot.

As if a handful of character banners wasn’t enough (via CBM), Feig’s modern overhaul adorns the cover of this month’s issue of Empire magazine, and there’s a spectral treat for subscribers. Bringing together the film’s core heroes – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon – the one-sheet is smothered by Slime, the iconic Ghostbusters stalwart that has been a fixture of the franchise from day-one, but peel back the initial cover and you’ll find the aforementioned foursome pouncing into action.

Opening within the vicinity of Star Trek Beyond and Universal’s equally rebooted Jason Bourne, Paul Feig’s and his ghost-busting quartet won’t only have the supernatural to contend with, and Sony’s tentpole release is facing a tall order if it is to scrap for box office supremacy. Early buzz appears largely positive, however – save for those mindless trolls – and from the first trailer alone we got a sense of the underlying chemistry that will be tying McCarthy, Wiig, Jones, and McKinnon together come July.

Grab those Proton packs – Ghostbusters lights up theaters near and far when Paul Feig’s hotly-anticipated reboot lands on July 15.

Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and Abby Yates (McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Gilbert reunites with Yates and others when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
