Insomniac Games and Sony aren’t pulling any punches when it comes to the upcoming Ratchet & Clank animated film, after the companies revealed the adaptation’s voice cast will boast the likes of Paul Giamatti, Rosario Dawson, John Goodman and Hollywood veteran Sylvester Stallone.

Due to release at some point this year, Sony’s big-screen feature will also bring together the dulcet tones that helped transform the titular pair into the mascots we know and love, namely Arnold Taylor and David Kaye as Ratchet and Clank, respectively. In tandem with today’s announcement, Insomniac CEO Ted Price spoke of his own excitement to bring the eccentric pair onto the big screen.

“Everyone at Insomniac is thrilled that Ratchet & Clank will be shared in cinemas around the world with new and longtime fans alike,” said Insomniac Games founder and CEO Ted Price. “It’s been particularly exciting to collaborate closely with PlayStation, Rainmaker and Blockade on character design, story, animation, game asset sharing and marketing support to ensure an authentic Ratchet & Clank intergalactic adventure.”

It’s certainly an enviable voice cast, particularly when you take Goodman’s expertise in the field after Pixar’s Monster Inc. into consideration. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ Kevin Munroe is behind the lens, and Insomniac’s own TJ Fixman penned the script.

With this renewed interest in the IP, it’s understood that game studio is planning to release a reimagined version of Ratchet & Clank on PlayStation 4 to coincide with the release of the film. No word yet on when we can expect either property, though we assume we’ll learn more during E3 next month. Until then, you can check out the asteroid-kicking poster below.
