Ever since Hugh Jackman put away his adamantium claws for good in 2017, X-Men fans have been wondering which actor could possibly be good enough to replace him. Some suggestions have been very plausible – e.g. Tom Hardy – while others have been pretty out there – Danny DeVito, anyone? One potential Logan who’s repeatedly been at the top of fan-casts though is Scott Eastwood.
The Suicide Squad actor has long been touted as a good fit for the next Wolverine. He’s got the looks and as the son of Clint Eastwood, he’s got the acting pedigree, too. And, as Deadpool might say, the 33-year-old star is young enough to have franchise potential. So far, several pieces of fan art have given us a taste of what Eastwood could look like as the character and the latest comes from Mizuri on Instagram.
As you can see below, he’s gone for a stripped-back teaser poster sort of vibe. Having given Eastwood the classic wolf-ear hair and a taste of the iconic claws protruding from his right hand, the image imagines the Wolverine in the woods.
Of course, when Logan next appears on screen he’ll be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As it turns out, Jackman vacated the role just before Fox’s X-Men franchise came to an end as a consequence of the Disney-Fox merger. We know that the X-Men as a team won’t be brought into the MCU for a while, but we’ve heard that Wolverine might get his own Disney Plus TV series sooner rather than later.
So, how likely is Eastwood to get the highly-coveted part? Well, who knows at this stage, but one major star has put their name forward to be considered when Marvel starts looking. Keanu Reeves has just revealed that he’s always wanted to play Logan. The internet would no doubt love that, but reports say the John Wick actor was being eyed for a part in The Eternals instead.
Tell us, though, would you like to see Scott Eastwood as Wolverine? If not, why and who else? Join the discussion in the comments section, bub.
