In a recent interview with Empire, Shazam! star Zachary Levi lamented how his two-movie run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t use the Warriors Three to their full potential, but now that the actor has made the jump to DC, Levi is hopeful that he’ll get to be a part of another superhero team.

Though there are no confirmed plans for Billy Batson beyond his upcoming solo flick, Levi has expressed an interest in joining the likes of Aquaman and Wonder Woman in the Justice League, telling Empire that Jason Momoa made him feel like a member of the DC family:

“I hope I get to be part of the Justice League. At San Diego, Jason Momoa quite literally took me under his wing, put his arm around me and was like, ‘Welcome to the family.’”

It’s nice to know that Levi is fitting in with his franchise peers, though as it stands, there are a whole load of reasons why another Justice League film is unlikely happen anytime soon. For one thing, after the 2017 ensemble flick underperformed at the box office, the studio won’t exactly be itching to give the go-ahead to a follow-up. In fact, after Aquaman fared far better with filmgoers, Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich said last month that the studio is more focused these days on standalone projects, rather than crossover movies.

What’s more, it could be some time before Superman or Batman is in a position to do another Justice League movie. While Henry Cavill’s future in the franchise remains uncertain, Ben Affleck is officially out, and while we can expect a new Caped Crusader to be announced by the end of the year, it’s generally believed that Matt Reeves’ The Batman will take us back to the character’s younger days, suggesting that the present-day DCEU will still be without a Dark Knight.

Nonetheless, the optimism from Levi is more than welcome, and regardless of who Billy Batson ends up partnering with, we’ll see how he fares going solo when Shazam! hits theaters on April 5th, 2019.
