Spider-Man: Homecoming Promo Art Features Detailed Look At The Hero’s Homemade Costume

Captain America: Civil War was a near perfect introduction for Peter Parker to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but many fans were disappointed that they only got a blink and you'll miss it glimpse of the hero's homemade costume before he was gifted a new one by Iron Man, which we'll next see in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The upcoming reboot will put Peter back in his original suit though when Tony Stark decides to take the costume back from him, and a new piece of Homecoming promo art that was released this week gives us a detailed look at the youngster's first effort at creating his own superhero duds.

It’s immediately apparent that this suit has been inspired by Ben Reilly. Everything from the hoodie to the webshooters are clearly taken from Peter’s clone, the Scarlet Spider. Still, this nod to the source material shouldn’t be taken as any sort of indication that we’ll see the character in the MCU, as that seems pretty unlikely at this point.

It would, however, be extremely interesting if Marvel went down the Clone Saga route with the Spider-Man: Homecoming franchise. Not only would it open the door to a lot of spinoffs – something which appears to be a priority for Sony right now – but it would help differentiate this series from Spidey’s previous big screen adventures.

For now though, the focus is clearly going to be on re-introducing Peter Parker to moviegoers, and Spider-Man: Homecoming will no doubt be doing just that when it opens in theatres on July 7th.
