Star Wars: The Force Awakens Breaks Yet Another Record

You may not have thought it was possible for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens to break any more records during this first few days of release, but that's exactly what's happened. According to Deadline, the critically acclaimed return to the galaxy far, far away will finish Monday with a very impressive $30 million, surpassing the highest Monday earnings record previously held by Spider-Man 2 back in 2004 when it chalked up $27.7. The only other movies that have come close to this are Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ($26.8 million) and Jurassic World ($25.3 million).

You may not have thought it was possible for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens to break any more records during this first few days of release, but that’s exactly what’s happened.

According to Deadline, the critically acclaimed return to the galaxy far, far away will finish Monday with a very impressive $30 million, surpassing the highest Monday earnings record previously held by Spider-Man 2 back in 2004, when it chalked up $27.7. The only other movies that have come close to this are Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ($26.8 million) and Jurassic World ($25.3 million).

Along with its incredible weekend haul, this is a very good sign that Disney and Lucasfilm’s movie will have legs and continue to notch up the dollars. It still has a ways to go if it’s to trouble the likes of Titanic and Avatar in terms of all-time global earnings, but it definitely seems to have a lot of re-watch potential among fans at least.
